The days are getting closer and closer to your wedding trip. You’ve got all the stressful planning taken care of and now you’re really envisioning you and your fiance being on the beach and enjoying your wedding/vacation. You’ve heard of excursions and activities, but aren’t really sure what’s out there or what to spend your money on. Here are 10 fun activities for you and your spouse during your destination wedding trip to get you started.
On the resort
There are plenty of activities that the resort will have right on site. This can be a great option if you don’t want to do a lot of planning or spend an entire day doing an activity. It will still cost you money, but they’re usually cheaper options than the off resort activities. Obviously, this post is not specific to just your resort, so you’ll have to check with your resort to see if they are offered.
1. Couples massage
My husband and I did this the day after all our guests left and I can’t begin to describe how worth it it was. The spa at the resort was beautiful and it was such an awesome way to truly relax, celebrate, and enjoy each other without worrying about what everyone else was doing.
2. Parasailing
If you’re afraid of heights you may want to just skip this one and start with the next. Some resorts will offer parasailing right on the beach and you’ll see other guests up in the air throughout your trip. Typically, they’ll take you by jet ski to a boat out in the ocean. Once on the boat they’ll get you strapped up and up in the air you go! It’s a fun and quick activity that is sure to offer beautiful views of the ocean and resort.
3. Tequila tasting
Mexico in particular is known for their high quality tequila, so you may see this at only Mexican resorts. If you’re a tequila fan, they’ll sit you down and offer tastes of some of the best tequila made in Mexico or the surrounding area. Certainly a relaxing and laid back activity to give you warm, fuzzy feelings. 🙂 Other resorts may have off site tequila tastings as well.
4. Snorkeling
Different from scuba diving because you don’t need to be properly trained on the more specialized equipment, snorkeling can be a fun activity to do right near the resort. Usually you meet at a location on the resort to get loaded on the boat and aren’t taken too far from the resort to do the snorkeling.
5. Kayaking
Another beach activity that won’t cost much (and a lot of resorts will offer for free as well). Get a little exercise and explore the waters with your fiance around the resort in a kayak. Also, depending on the location of your resort, you may be able to see quite far into the water and see some beautiful marine life as well.
Off resort
Most resorts work with outside companies to offer tons of excursions for their guests. Keep in mind that if you booked through a travel agent they’ll usually recommend working with a specific company that is available at the resort to help book your excursion. Sometimes they’ll even offer a discount toward an excursion so make sure to look out for that.
6. Golf day
For a more relaxing activity that sure to include beautiful scenery and weather, consider a golf trip with your new husband. Some resorts have a specific golf course in mind that they work with and provide transportation to and from.
7. Scuba diving
If you’re on the adventurous side and are okay with a little more involved activity than snorkeling, scuba diving might be the perfect activity for you. Usually it includes a couple hours of training to know how to use the diving equipment safely, and then they take you off resort to do it. I’ve heard so many awesome things about scuba diving and it can be a really fun experience.
8. Tequila tasting
This is listed as an on resort activity, but may only be offered off resort, depending on where you’re staying. A really fun, laid back activity that will get you feeling pretty good if you and your significant other are tequila fans.
9. Zip lining
Another more adventurous activity, but a lot of fun. Typically this is booked through the agent at the resort and they set up the trip for you. Strap into a harness and go gliding atop the jungle.
10. Sailing or yacht trip
Enjoy a relaxing day on a boat in the ocean with a sailing or yacht boat trip. Most of the time these are coordinated by companies off the resort, so you can book it through the representative at your resort and they take care of the rest. Usually this includes a boat ride with a stop or two at a scenic area, and drinks provided on the boat.
