Naomi & Ryan always envisioned their wedding on the beach. When asked why she specifically chose Generations Riviera Maya Naomi stated, “We had been there before, but the biggest reasons were the food, top shelf drinks included, and the option to stay in kid friendly or adult only.” I don’t know about you, but those reasons would be enough for me to want to get married there as well.

Set along the stunning Mexican Caribbean coast, Generations Riviera Maya was not only a beautiful resort to have their wedding, but the entire experience was wonderful for them. In fact, when asking Naomi what she would have changed about the experience she couldn’t think of anything! Let’s take a further look at Generations Riviera Maya and the option of having your destination wedding there.

The Resort – Generations Riviera Maya by Karisma

Generations Riviera Maya is an all-inclusive resort and every suite is oceanfront, offering a beautiful view no matter which room you’re in. In addition to enjoying Generations Riviera Maya, any adult 18 and over has the option to explore all the restaurants, beaches and amenities of their sister properties El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Casitas Royale.

Naomi’s review of the resort amenities:

Service: 10/10
Pool: 10/10
Beach: 8/10*
Food: 10/10
Spa: 10/10

*Note: “I gave the beach an 8 only because there are currently giant stones out in the ocean that blocks the view a bit. They are there on purpose and they are working to preserve and revive the coral in that area. A notable cause that I am happy to support, but it does damper the view a bit.”

You can see the stones mentioned in the photo below. Naomi got married in January of 2020 so keep in mind the resort could have changed since this review was published.

We’re happy to hear the stones are there for a good cause.  You can’t deny the simple beauty and quality of the beach in that photo. Naomi’s favorite part of the resort? “The grounds are stunning and the service is amazing”

The Wedding Planning

When planning her destination wedding, Naomi used and would recommend her travel agent. Shout out to Modern Vacations and Destination Weddings.

When it came to the resort wedding planning, Naomi also had an on-site wedding coordinator. Shelly at Generations Riviera Maya helped Naomi through email prior to the wedding, as well as two other coordinators when she arrived at the resort.

Bridal Q&A:

Q: If the resort had wedding packages, which one did you pick?

A: Always and Forever package but lots of customized add on’s

*Note: Generations Riviera Maya has the following wedding packages:
Always & Forever ($950 or free)
Memorable Moments Signature ($2,950)
Ultimate Memorable Moments ($7,985)
Vow Renewal ($399)
These prices were accurate at the time of this review. Please always contact the resort directly regarding pricing as it is subject to change.

Q: Where did you have your ceremony and reception? (i.e. pergola, beach, etc.)

A: The beach for both

Q: Did you pay for any add on’s that were not included in your wedding package? If so, what were they?

A: String Lights (biggest thing that is a MUST – worth it), flowers, wedding gazebo with flowers, card box, centerpieces, cake, food. The package came with a “semi private dinner” in a restaurant. We used that for our rehearsal dinner and paid extra for a full private dinner on the beach

Q: What was your biggest challenge in planning a destination wedding?

A: Just being nervous about the unknown and guests with their travel plans. There will always be people who book last minute or who don’t want to stay at your resort, or who don’t’ want to use your travel planner, or who cancel last minute…just prepare yourself.

Q: If you could change anything about your experience, what would it be and why?

A: No changes

It’s safe to say Generations Riviera Maya met and exceeded Naomi’s expectations not only with the quality of the resort, but when it came to everything wedding as well. Looking back at your wedding and saying you wouldn’t change anything is every bride’s dream. We’re so happy Naomi decided to share her experience with us and hope that it serves as a helpful tool to future destination wedding brides.
