perfect wedding songs for your ceremony

While you get closer and closer to your wedding date one of the most common challenges is picking the perfect wedding songs for your ceremony. Some brides love the common or popular songs you typically hear at a wedding, while others will want to make theirs a little more unique.

When thinking of wedding songs most people only think of the reception songs (e.g. – father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, and the first dance). Besides those, some resorts will want you to pick the songs for your entire ceremony as well. This includes the prelude, processional, recessional, and postlude. This may not be something you’ve considered. Therefore you’re now scrambling to come up with songs for the most important part of your day.

We chose to hire a violinist to play during our ceremony because we absolutely loved how it sounded, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Honestly, I still get teary eyed when I hear Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis on violin because that’s the song I chose to walk down the aisle to.

Instrumental vs. Lyrical

For the songs below I’ve chosen to post them as their instrumental version, but there are a few posted as their original version. The reason being that most brides will choose a guitarist, violinist, pianist, or media player with the instrumental version instead of the lyrical version because it gives more of a classical vibe. Because some songs still sound better as their original version, I’ve left a few as well.

Below I’ve included songs for every part of your ceremony. Of course these can be interchangeable as far as what part of the ceremony you use what song, but I’ve tried to categorize them where they best fit during the ceremony. For me, personally, they asked for me to come up with the following:

  • 3-4 prelude songs (played while people were being seated and waiting)
  • 1 processional song for the wedding party to come down the aisle
  • 1 song for me to walk down the aisle
  • 1-2 recessional and postlude songs
